SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- New York Jets?wide receiver Brandon Marshall barely remembers one of the most productive games of his NFL career.Speaking to San Francisco Bay Area reporters via conference call Wednesday, Marshall said his memories of his three-touchdown game against the 49ers in 2014 were fuzzy, at best. The reason? Marshall said he took pain pills before that contest so he could play through a high ankle sprain he had suffered just 10 days earlier.I dont really remember much about that game, because I worked really hard to get back from a high ankle [sprain], Marshall said.Marshall then paused before offering further explanation.Ill say it: I took a couple pain pills that masked the pain, Marshall said. I really wasnt supposed to play. I came back from a high ankle [sprain] within 10 days. I was supposed to be out four to six weeks. I dont remember much from that game. I just remember catching those balls. And that was pretty much it.Then a member of the Chicago Bears, Marshall had five catches for 48 yards and three touchdowns in Chicagos 28-20 win against San Francisco in Week 2 of the 2014 season. Its one of two games in his career in which the 11-year veteran has caught three touchdowns.Marshall hasnt played the Niners since, but he will renew acquaintances with them Sunday at Levis Stadium as a member of the Jets.Over the past couple of years, pain management has become a more prevalent topic in NFL circles, with former players such as offensive tackle Eugene Monroe becoming advocates of the benefits of marijuana. The NFL has said it would not be changing its policy on marijuana, for now, as states across the country, including California, legalize it through elections. The NFL Players Association, however, will continue its pre-election efforts to form a pain management committee that will, among other tasks, explore the use and effects of marijuana as a natural pain reliever. That is something I actually want to research more this offseason, when I have time, Marshall said. Im not a guy that knows about the benefits of what it can do for pain and other things. But I would like to hear others opinions and really research the effects it can have on us, the positive and negative.Information from ESPNs Kevin Seifert was used in this report. But when it comes to determining if Raymond will find a place on the Leafs roster when training camp concludes in a week, well, that decision will ultimately fall to the head coach. Michael Conlan departed the Rio Olympics with a foul-mouthed tirade after finding himself on the wrong end of a controversial unanimous decision against Russias Vladimir Nikitin in their bantamweight quarterfinal.Irelands reigning world champion could not hide his anger when the three judges sided with his opponent after three fast and furious rounds, leaving his dream of building on his bronze medal at London 2012 in tatters.Conlan fired expletives in a post-fight interview with RTE: AIBA are cheats. Theyre f---ing cheats. Thats me -- Ill never box for AIBA again.Theyre cheating bastards, theyre paying everybody. I dont give a f--- that Im cursing on TV. I was here to win Olympic gold. My dreams been shattered now. But you know what? Ive a big career ahead of me.These [unintelligible] -- theyre known for being cheats, and theyll always be cheats. Amateur boxing stinks, from the core right to the top.The 24-year-old further expanded on his feelings to media in the press mixed zone, where he vowed never to box in an AIBA-sanctioned competition again.Conlan said: My little dream has been ruined. I will never box in an AIBA competition again -- I feel they are one of the most corrupt organisations in the world. If you have watched these Olympic Games and seen some of the decisions, Olympic boxing is dead. Its whoever pays the most money -- whoever has the most, wins. One thing I can say for sure is I will never box in an AIBA competition againn as they are rotten to the core.ddddddddddddf they offered me five million to box in APB [AIBAs professional arm], Id tell them, you probably got that for me losing. I will not box for them again.Conlan was the last Irish boxer standing in the competition after shock early defeats for Paddy Barnes and Katie Taylor, and was expected to move through to the medal rounds again. But the Russian caught the eye of the judges in a ferocious first three minutes which it appeared Conlan may have shaded. The Irishman had a better second, after which he dragged the scores level, but Nikitin got the verdict after smothering much of Conlans cleaner work and turning the last round into a brawl.Conlan shook his head and waved his arms in frustration when the verdict was announced, while a section of the crowd including his Irish teammates jeered. The controversy over the verdict follows a highly contentious decision in the mens heavyweight final on Monday night, when another Russian, Evgeny Tishchenko, was awarded a unanimous win over Kazakhstans Vasiliy Levit to a chorus of boos.In a statement, the Olympic Council of Ireland said: While we understand and share Michaels disappointment with the decision today, the OCI does not condone his comments or conduct. We will evaluate internally before taking any action on todays events. ' ' '
